Another fun book in the “Color Me” series – 78 Designs printed on one side of paper
By iiiireader
[[VIDEOID:6d6fc0ce0f538bb6beef729b93ac7cca]]“Color Me Fearless” is my first full-size coloring book in this series. I have a couple of the books in the portable size and have enjoyed them, so I thought it time to pick up the larger format book. The book has many different styles of designs. Of the 78 designs in the book, 33 are mandalas or mandala style designs. The designs have many intricate and small details and may take using sharp pointed coloring pencils or small nib pens to color.
The book has seven chapters: Courage, Strength, Resilience, Confidence, Power, Adventure, and Freedom. The designs in each chapter is supposed to be symbolic of the title. I get it with some of the designs but others are a bit less obvious and I don't relate them to the title of the chapter. That doesn't bother me as I want to enjoy the book for the coloring opportunities first and foremost. While the subtitle of the book states there are nearly 100 designs, I only count 78. There are additional partially colored designs and some blank pages (as well as the patterns on the back of the designs) but I think that there was a bit of stretch in rounding the number up to 100.
I chose a variety of designs for my first four projects in this book: two mandalas, a lighthouse and ocean scene, and an Egyptian inspired designs. I used different medium on the various designs with my Tombow water-based markers on two and a mix of Sharpies and Bic Mark-it ultra-fine point markers on the other two. The pictures of all four will be posted below.
I will provide more detail about the physical book below, but here is a quick overview of what I found:
78 Hand-drawn designs including mandalas and scenic designs
Designs are printed on one side of non-perforated paper
Sewn Binding
Designs do not merge into the binding
Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page
Water-based markers, India ink pens and gel pens leave a shadow on the back of the page
Coloring pencils worked well with this paper
The designs are printed on one side of non-perforated paper that is a nice weight. The binding is sewn rather than glued, so you can remove a few pages at a time by snipping a few threads. That may be a choice (especially for those who are left-handed) as this is a fairly thick book. I can get to the book to lay flat enough for my purposes as the designs all stop well before the binding edge. All of the designs have either finished elements at the sides or have a framing line around the entire design. This provides a natural stopping point, saving me time, ink, and frustration. I always appreciate it when an artist adds this to their designs.
All of my alcohol-based markers bled through this paper easily. All of my water-based markers, gel pens and India ink artist pens left a color shadow to varying degrees on the back of the page. My gel pens did not require more than the usual drying time. My coloring pencils worked very well with the paper and according to their brand and type. My soft lead pencils were easily blended and went on fairly thick without too much pressure. My hard lead pencils did not leave indents on the back of the page. If I choose to use anything other than pencils with this coloring book, I will use a blotter page of card stock to keep the ink from seeping through my working page and ruining the designs below.
These are the coloring medium that I use for testing. If there is something else you feel I should be testing, please let me know and I will see if I can add it to my growing pile:
Markers: 1) alcohol-based – Copic Sketch, Prismacolor double ended markers (brush and fine point), Sharpies (fine and ultra-fine) Bic Mark-its (fine and ultra-fine) and 2) water-based – Tombows dual end markers (brush and fine point), Stabilo 88, Staedler triplus fineliners, and Pentel markers
India Ink: Faber Castell PITT artist pens (brush tip)
Gel Pens: Sakura, Fiskars, Uni-ball Signo in the following sizes - 0.28/0.38/0.5/1.0 and Tekwriter
Coloring Pencils: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core, Derwent Colorsoft, Prismacolor Verithins, and Faber-Castel Polychromos

This is my favorite to date in this series, filled with more scenic pictures than the others. & mandalas too. Printed 1 per page
By Jackie Cooper
This book has over 40 of the whimsical scenic type pictures that I love to color, twice as many as the previous books in this series, but still includes those artistic, balanced, flowing circular mandalas for a great variety, that will kick start your imagination and spark your creativity.
Every single illustration is imaginative, original, whimsical and drawn in the same hand drawn style as the previous books in this series.
This is a well made ,nice looking book that boasts a thick cardboard cover, with 79 images for you to color and broken into 7 color coded chapters , this is more than just a coloring book, it will make a wonderful coffee table book once you have completed the pictures.
This is a perfect addition to your coloring library, but with its hard cover, and color coded chapters is also great as a gift for adults, college students or older children. This book is one of the best made coloring books out there.
This is my favorite series for gift giving; the recipients are always surprised with the quality and style of these special books. My grandchildren treasure these books and carry them everywhere to share with their friends.
1. This is a well made coloring book; it is (8 ¾ inches x 9 ¾ inches, and ¾ inches thick), the cover is especially nice, and made of Quality heavy cardboard, each image is printed one per page (the back of each page is blank) and centered on that page, there are 79 illustrations to color in this book.
2. TIP: This book has a good sturdy binding that you can bend completely backwards and hold together a few seconds to get the pages to lie flat for coloring.
3. All the pictures are centered on each page and are bordered , the front side of each page has a colored border 3/4th inches wide so you can easily find the chapter you want to color in.
4. All markers that I tested bled through the pages, so if you use markers place two pages behind the page you are coloring to prevent damaging the next picture.
5. Fiskars Gel pens and Irma Gel pens did not leak through the pages,
6. Perfect for Colored pencils,
You will find 30 circular mandalas scattered throughout the book, and 49 rectangular pictures with most in scenic form plus a few patterns for a total of 79 illustrations and you will want to color every single one.
This book is divided into 7 chapters and each chapter begins with a couple partially colored and one fully colored example of actual illustrations within that chapter to kick start your imagination and inspire your creativity. Plus you will also find a page of text about the subject matter in that chapter. I am adding pictures from each section including the fully colored example, to help you decide if this book is just right for you.
Chapter one: Courage, 10 Coloring pages, ( Images include icons of bravery in battle, symmetrical designs, powerful animals, and geometric shapes)
Chapter Two: Strength , 11 coloring pages, (You will find images that signify strength in both literal and symbolic ways with representations of strong bonds, permanence and stability.
Chapter Three: Resilience: 12 coloring pages, ( Images that exemplify rebounding and resilience, including rebirth, endurance, survival and flexibility.
Chapter Four: Confidence: 11 coloring pages, (These images focus on confidence with through natural, geometric, and scenic images ).
Chapter Five: Power: 12 coloring pages, ( Images most associated with power including crowns, headdresses, mighty animal and impressive structures)
Chapter Six: Adventure: 14 coloring pages, (these images focus on a sense of adventure depicted in scenes from exploration , camping, travel, scuba diving, Africa and even space.
Chapter Seven: Freedom: 9 coloring pages, (These images focus on breaking free from confinement and include scenes such as dolphins jumping above the waves, butterflies escaping from a jar, birds escaping from a cage, plus a few mandalas like a candle flame )

Intricate and Whimsical
By Ukknight
I have all of the Color Me Books. Color Me Calm remains my favorite, but I like this one very much. I prefer this to Fearless, which had too many abstract pictures for my liking. This one is full of my two favorite things to color, mandalas and whimsical drawings. I love that everything looks hand drawn. I agree with the other five star reviews, so won't repeat what they said, other than to say that most of these pictures are more intricate than previous books, so if you struggle with a lot of tiny detail, look at in in person before you buy it.
