The Chapins represent America at its best

Fantastic book.

Harry hit the music world when I was about 6 years old, and by the time I was 10, I had become a real fan. "Verities & Balderdash" was the first album I ever bought, in exchange for straightening up my parent's garage. I knew his work was meant for a much older audience, and sometimes I didn't even understand the references, but his spirit reached me through his songs. I knew that this was a good man, a sensitive and caring man, and a man who shaped my own life in ways he will never understand. Harry taught me about the world in a way my own father never could and I have felt a part of his family ever since, even though they never knew me.

But you don't want to hear about me. This book itself is a quality product. It is very tastefully laid out with great anecdotes and personal artifacts from the Chapin family collection. I can't imagine any Chapin fan not feeling this was money well spent. Granted, a fair portion of this book is devoted to Harry's family and ancestors, more so than things like backstage photos, and some may find that a bit out of the ordinary for a "fan" book, but if you, like me, have felt welcomed into the unseen, extended Chapin family, then you will enjoy the refreshing openness of their awesome family. I see a recognition in their faces that touch me more than the photos of my own unknown relative in my own family albums. I see a creative and humble family spanning many decades long past, and I can't help but feel these people are the best of America, representing our hopes, dreams, and most of all our humanity. We will never forget Harry, and we are thankful that his family has shared their family with ours.

This book will live in the display case of my most cherished items.

Anyone Harry Chapin fan will really enjoy this book. It is very well done and has so many great pictures. A wonderful look into the life of one of the greatest singer songwriter, humanitarian, and person around. Money very well spent. We miss you, Harry.

We were/are huge Chapin fans, and it still makes us sad to think about how young he was taken from all of us. This book is a must for any Chapin fan.

An Impressive, Comprehensive Collection of Jack London's Works

Delphi Classics is correct: As of this writing, all four of the reviews linked to this ebook on Amazon.com are for the wrong product--not Delphi's wonderful Complete Works of Jack London. Though I don't know enough about Jack London's writings to say whether this is EVERYTHING the man ever wrote, I can vouch for the comprehensive nature of this nicely presented and formatted works collection. All 197 short stories are here and, as far as I know, all of the novels, plays, etc. It's a huge collection but well organized and easily navigated. I can't imagine finding a better Jack London collection for the Kindle anywhere. Delphi has similar collections for many other classic authors whose works are now in the public domain. They are a fairly new company, but it's clear to me they want to become the leading provider of public-domain classics for the Kindle (at least for readers who like these comprehensive complete-works collections). At $2.99 each, they're an incredible value.

I should also mention that Delphi has excellent customer service, and they take quality control seriously. For example, there are some minor formatting issues in the first novel of this collection (The Cruise of the Dazzler). Many words containing apostrophes contain an extra space. I contacted Delphi about this, and they sent me a corrected file directly by e-mail within two or three days. I was very impressed. I highly recommend this and other Delphi Classics works collections.

Can't go wrong

Delphi Classics is fast becoming my go-to publisher for all books in public domain. The best writers, conviently compiled, and attractively packaged along with letters, unpublished works and illustrations. If the body of work is not complete (i.e., not in public domain) the publisher is upfront about it. The price cannot be beat and the works are easily navigable. The only quibble I have about the London compilation is that the short stories are inexplicably difficult to navigate so I could not verify that a particular favorite was included before purchase. London is the greatest American writer since Twain (piss on you, Hemingway!), and you cannot go wrong here.

Complete Works of Jack London

I have read several of Jack London's novels over the years. I thoroughly enjoyed all of these. When I received the complete works I was somewhat daunted to realise that there were so many books. When did Jack have time to go on all of those adventures whilst he was writing so many novels.

What I have learnt, is that Jack London must have had a complex mind and a dominating personality. Whilst I don't agree with some of his political and apparently racist views (by today's standards), I am going to enjoy reading the rest of his novels and stories.

Lance Has Been Called for These Times - Great Insight

I have followed Lance Wallnau for years and have considered him to be a prolific voice for an effective Kingdom culture. His perspective in this book forces people to step back and see the panorama of what may be going on in the unraveling of America. He rightly mentions the leaders of the past who we now hold in high regard, but Christians were not fond of in the present time. Trump is someone that you have to see with a unique lens. You have to at least consider what Lance is saying, as there is no question our whole country's future is at stake here.

Just disagreeing and doing nothing is not an answer if you disagree with this book. God always has a direction for the people of God. No one is saying Trump as a person is the answer to our nation's problems, but Lance has gleaned into something where he may be spot on. The whole system has been shaken by a man who has been willing to bring his tattered personal past into the picture, take the hits, but still press in for change. If you disagree with Lance's perspective, it would be awesome if you could reveal what your perspective of answers can be for this next season, beyond just praying, hoping, but doing nothing.

Although Trump is not a born-again Christian, I have always heard Mr. Trump show a consistent record of respecting Judeo/Christian values, even when he struggled to personally follow them.

This book may stretch a lot of Christians, because it causes them to become moved beyond their typical mode of how they vote or even see politics. The political scene is filled with ugly tactics and two second sound bites that change the perspective, based on key thoughts that have their basis on lies and misconstrued statements. Lance helps you get clarity on the issues and not get swayed by the day to day games that get played.

Whatever happens in this election season, I am thankful for Lance's voice. He's sharpening the church to wake up to a higher calling and to see with greater vision in how we can be effective.

Truly a MUST READ, HARD TO PUT DOWN, BOOK

I'm only about 2/3 of the way through this book and felt compelled to write this review now versus waiting until I'm done.
I am someone who used to shy away from politics. Having only followed Dr Lance via social media (including Periscope) for just over a year, I've gone from being repulsed by anything political to, now I can't get away from it even when I try. I have a strong passion for the truth and for the American church to wake up and SEE before it's too late.
I remember reading about Dr Lance's experiences going to Trump Towers last year for meetings. I read those accounts to my friend I carpool with and literally felt like I'd been in those meetings. (This is included in the book).
If you're not familiar with who Dr Lance Wallnau is, I can tell you that what he's written is not some off the wall, prophetic word for "itching ears". This is a well thought out, researched book that provides biblical context and principles to today's current Presidential election, Mr. Trump's role, including the church and how we have a part to play.

Also, if you're someone like me who couldn't stand politics, but you love our country and concerned about our future, perhaps not sure what to think of our current candidates, confused by who or what to believe thanks to what is reported and spun by the spin doctors, mainstream media - then this book is for you!

Loved The Book!
I have been with Mr. Trump since the beginning. After hearing and seeing what has been going on in America, I felt that we needed someone who would do something to change things around instead of "turning the other cheek" as the rest in the government has done. Actually, they have sat on both cheeks while so many things that are going wrong in America keep getting progressively worse. After listening to other Christians telling those who support Mr. Trump that they are not really Christians, I believe that this book explains a lot about what is going on in America and with Mr. Trump. In some ways, the words in this book help me feel vindicated. This book is not just for the Christian, but is a must read for all who love America and do not want to lose our way of life. This is a very important election, so buy the book, read it and be an informed voter.

Clear and concise summary.

Very clear and concise summary of the big Robbins. I often read it first before reading big Robbins so that I have a better idea of what I'm diving into. 4 stars because it is a pocket edition meaning the pages are very narrow and the spine is tight. That makes reading it a little frustrating because it's always trying to close itself unless you break the spine. I'm going to have it spiral bound but the margins are narrow so it's a risk. I wish the publisher would release a spiral option -that would earn 5 stars.

About the Author
Nicolas Remy received a BS in Mathematics and Physics from Ecole Nationale Superieure des Mines, Nancy, France, a MS in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University and a PhD in geostatistics from Stanford University. He is currently a Senior Statistician at Yahoo!, leading the Data Mining and User Behavior Modeling group for the Yahoo! Media and Yahoo Communications and Communities business units. His research interests include multiple-points statistics, machine learning, graph theory and data mining. Alexandre Boucher received a B.Eng. in geological engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Montreal, QC, Canada, an M.Phil. degree from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University, Stanford, CA. He teaches geostatistics in the Department of Environmental Earth System Sciences, Stanford University. He has taught short courses on the subject in the US and Japan. His research interests include geostatistics, data integration, remote sensing, uncertainty modeling, machine learning and probabilistic modeling of spatio-temporal phenomena. Jianbing Wu is a reservoir engineer with the Applied Reservoir Engineering group at ConocoPhillips. His research focuses on static and dynamic reservoir modeling. He received his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering in 2007 from Stanford University, and his ME and BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from University of Science and Technology of China. He is currently a member of SPE, IAMG and SEG.

Book is not what i expected

Book is not what i expected, they mention some examples and data, but this is not available in kindle format, book is weak in explanation and geostatistic theory, by these reason if i dont have the examples and data, is a simple user manual very similar to those free download offered in stanford pangea and other geostatistics websites. Im not recommend buy this book in any format, it is better buy Journel and Deustch GSLIB manual and Srivastava book.

The one for me

Yes sir, this is the one and only book you will need for BMW. Bob is one of my favorite artist and so I wanted a complete collection. Every other book I found fell way short. There are other books with this same cover (be sure to see song list), but this particular book contains all the songs from the 4-disc album Song of Freedom and more. Well worth the extra cost and wait to get shipped from Europe.

Casual fans will probably be OK with books of smaller collection, but for those following his career since his songs were only available on 45s this is a must have.

About the Author
During a long career with the British Council, Julian Andrews worked closely with The Henry Moore Foundation on the organisation of exhibitions of the artist's work in many parts of the world. His previous publications include Sutherland: The Wartime Drawings, with Roberto Tassi, and The Sculpture of David Nash, also published by Lund Humphries.Julian Andrews' interest in the Shelter Drawings of Henry Moore went back to his own childhood experience of taking shelter on the Underground during the Blitz of 1940-41.

London's War: The Shelter Drawings of Henry Moore. Julian Andrews. Lund Humphries. [pounds sterling]25.00 p.b. 144 pages. ISBN 0-85331-844-1. Among the most popular visual pictures of the Second World War are those showing Londoners finding safety in the city's underground. These drawings were made between the autumn of 1940 and the summer of 1941 and came to number more than 300. Moore made them at the request of the War Artists Advisory Committee. Mr Andrews admits that not all the drawings are good but they do show how an artist came to terms with a situation in which people were 'having things done to them that they were quite powerless to resist'. Although the drawings began as a private affair based on a chance journey on the Tube, they soon became famous and a source of needed income. By comparing the drawings to actual photographs and by including much valuable information about the works, the artist and the war, Mr Andrews has given readers not just the first book on these works but a superb survey of the drawings and the artist behind them. Well-written books with horrible durability.

These books are generally well-written and visually appealing.

I have a set of minor complaints about the text, and one major complaint about the physical durability of the books.

First, the text seems to have a tendency to repeat the same example. This would not be an issue if the example code was reused in order to clarify a new point, but it gets slightly annoying when it is simply readdressing a learning topic that was already covered earlier in the text.

Also, if you come from a programming background, these books sometimes leave you with a lot of questions, i.e. they do not provide enough technical details in some passages. However, to be fair the books do target beginners, so this was somewhat expected.

The physical durability of these books is horrible. I'm only halfway through my first pass of the JavaScript/jQuery book, and the binding has already come apart (see pictures). I've been reading these while sitting outside in the sunshine - apparently the glue cannot withstand this. These books are obviously paperbacks, but they should at least last 3+ passes. This physical build quality is very disappointing and forces me to only award this book set 3 stars. Otherwise it would definitely deserve at least 4 stars.

Great reading if you can read it.

I love the writing and style of this set. The information is easy to understand and thorough.

The reason for three stars is a physical one. the book (hardback) is actually hard to read. Many pages have text so light that it is unreadable even under the best reading lamp. This looks like a quality control issue, maybe they ran out of ink. I'm not really sure how many other pages are effected, today I skipped ahead to look at form validation and found pages 574, 575, 578, 579, 582, 583, 586 and 587 of the Java Script book unreadable. See images attached for examples.

I really like these books but...

New review: I got the new copy of the book this week and I couldn't be happier about it. Apart from some minor code errors these books are amazing. Not only the explanations are really organised and easy to follow but the book itself is beautiful.

"My old review: I really love these books, the explanations are super clear and the examples are good but what I find unacceptable is the way the JS&JQ book is falling apart on my first reading (haven't started the other one yet).

I would definitely give this set a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the fact that their binding is horrible."
